Theory At Classic Smiles

Move on from missing teeth with top quality dental implants and enjoy a replacement option that offers both the function as well as the look of a natural tooth. Our Greater Orlando dental implant dentists have extensive training in the placement of these artificial tooth roots and can walk you through the process in its entirety. We can also let you know whether they’re the right solution for your smile.

Dental implants are titanium posts surgically placed in the jawbone to act as artificial tooth roots.

Here’s an overview of the dental implant procedure and a quick run-through of the ways we can use implants to restore your smile’s appearance.

How Dental Implants Work

Unlike traditional dentures or dental bridges that sit on top of the gum line, implants are surgically embedded directly into the jawbone. This increases their overall stability and eliminates the possibility of shifting when you’re eating or talking with others.

Once an implant is placed, our dentists will wait for the process of osseointegration to occur which essentially is the fusion of the post with your jaw. It’s important to note that some patients may require a dental bone graft prior to an implant being put in if bone density is low in the area being treated and additional support is needed.

Complete healing often takes a few months but afterwards we’ll have you come back into the office so our dentists can place the abutment (connector piece) and crown on top of the implant.

The Longevity of Dental Implants

Because most dental implants are made of titanium, they can last a lifetime if cared for properly each day. Titanium is a biocompatible material, meaning it won’t cause an allergic reaction or negative immune system response in the body. It’s also highly resistant to fracture, non-corrosive (won’t rust), and is great at handling pressure over time.

Still, you have to take care of a dental implant much like your natural teeth if you want them to make it years into the future. Brushing your teeth at least twice a day, flossing at least once daily, and receiving teeth cleanings every 6 months in our Ocoee, FL, dental office will all increase your chances of implant success. Your gums and remaining teeth will also thank you!

Did you know? → At Classic Smiles, we carry both Nobel and Straumann brand dental implants. Both are highly regarded and considered to be of the best quality not only in the nation, but in the world as well.

Implant Services We Offer

Depending on your specific needs, our dentists have a few different routes we could take with respect to dental implants. For instance, if you’re only missing one tooth, we would understandably pursue single-tooth replacement. More than one lost or extracted opens up the possibility of either overdentures or All-on-X dental implants.

Before anything final is decided, however, our dentists will take a thorough look at your mouth to determine the extent of restoration needed. We’ll of course keep you informed at every stage and will not move forward until you’re comfortable with the treatment plan.
