Teeth Veneers

Here at Classic Smiles, we are experts in dental veneers. You are diligent about the hygiene of your teeth. You brush twice a day and avoid sugar whenever you can. Your teeth always appear broken, discolored, chipped, 'dirty', or just plain grisly.

What are Veneers?

The simplest route to getting a bright and shiny smile is to have one of our cosmetic dentists apply a veneer. What is a veneer you might ask? Well, a dental veneer is a paper-thin shell which resembles the color of your teeth, or a brighter shade if you might prefer. Dental veneers are usually made of porcelain, but can also be made from resin-composite materials.

Veneers are usually applied to the eight teeth in the front. These are attached permanently to your teeth so with proper care, the effect can last for decades. It is important to note here that depending on the severity of your condition, and you may require more than one veneer to get the desired effect.

How Veneers Are Applied?

Generally speaking, applying traditional veneers requires intensive preparatory work. Therefore, it is absolutely vital that you entrust your teeth to our trusted dentist. Depending on the severity of your condition, our dentist might have to grind down one or more of your teeth. This is done so that the veneer can be placed properly, but be warned that it is an irreversible process. You may require a shot of the local anesthetic.

If going down the route of a traditional veneer looks like a daunting task, you may opt for other alternatives. There are dental veneers available in the market today that require no preparatory work. Applying modern veneers is a less invasive procedure. The downside is that such veneers only impact the enamel of the tooth; it does not go deeper than that. These veneers are also cheaper to apply as compared to traditional veneers.

We like to be thorough with our clients. Our team knows exactly the value of a perfect smile. Before the actual veneer is applied, we'll evaluate the severity of your condition and discuss possible options. We may also recommend braces if the teeth are too uneven before the application of the veneer. We may also require x-rays to look for signs of gum decay and tooth erosion.

For the application of the veneer, we usually remove about a half millimeter of each of your teeth to make them even and get accurate sizing. Then, an impression of your teeth is sent to our state-of-the-art laboratories to create custom made veneers. This process usually takes a week or two.

After the veneers are in, we'll use a special ultraviolet ray and dental cement to bond the veneers to the front of your teeth. The whole process is done in two hours. And as soon as you leave our office, your bright new smile will be ready for the world to behold!
